Summer Is Just Around The Corner

I am so excited that the weather is getting warmer. I am excited for all it represents....no school work, swimming, days playing in the sun with the kids and fresh foods from the garden just to name a few.

We have been very busy with my lists of "To Do's". Trying very hard to get things done so that we can start our fostering classes in September. We decided to make our garden bigger this year so we have gotten it dug up, tillered and now have everthing planted except for our pumpkins and gourds. I thought the kids would enjoy the pumkings and gourds come fall. The corn, lettuce and beans are starting to pop up from the ground. I also planted a grape vine in hopes of being able to can lots of jams and jellies in the future.

We also got Sugar Bug's bedroom painted. We picked out a new comforter and shelves for his room, now we just need to pick out some posters. Once Sugar Bug's room is finished then I am just moving down the line, next I will paint the hallway and then Brandon's room needs redone.

We get our chickens for 4-H in a couple of weeks. I can't wait for them to arrive. That is another thing we still need to get done, we have to build the chicken tractor. With the chicken tractor we get all the benefits of them being free range without them running off or getting hit by a car. We also got 5 egg layers which I am so excited about!

Well, better run for now.

Time Flies

It has been awhile since I have been on here. With the nicer weather comes the crazy schedules. Baseball has started for both my boys now. Actually my high schooler is finishing up his last games next week and my 3rd grader has his opening game tomorrow. I am so ready for summer and some sunshine. We have had so much rain lately and I am tired of it!

My oldest found out she is having a baby boy at her last doctors appointment. The baby is due September 4th. So, things are very busy around our house with sports, trying to finish work on our house, getting ready for our first grand baby and hoping to start our fostering classes in September. Could we put anymore on our plate? Oh well, it makes things exciting!

I have also been busy trying to get my garden dug up and ready for everything to be planted. I am hoping to can and freeze a lot of food this year.

Hopefully, it wont be so long between this post and my next post.

Becoming a foster parent?

My dream has always been to be a foster parent! I love kids and thought I would have a very large family. Growing up I always told my parents and anyone that would listen that I was going to have 6 children. Well, many years later I have been blessed with 3 wonderful children.

Over the years instead of wanting to have them myself I started to feel a tug on my heart to help children that are out there needing a safe place to be. So, I have started to look into the whole process. I have spoke with our county agency and a public agency. I am so excited that I can't stand it!

Our county agency has a class starting the end of this month, which I would love to sign up for! The problem is that my husband is still a little concerned. Of course, I am nervous too but I completely feel that God has called me to do this.

I have decided instead of continuing to talk to him in my "flesh" that I am going to lay it at God's feet. I am praying that my husband will be willing to step out of his comfort zone and follow what ever path The Lord wants to take us down.

I have been so inspired by what Jen has to share over at http://www.kellerfamilyof9.com. She has been a great source of inspiration to me. Like her I was also adopted and maybe that is also where my passion stems from.

I ask that you please pray the Gods will be done in our lives and that myself and my husband would be obedient to his calling.

Here it is 10:00 pm and I am exhausted. I have had a busy day, starting with cleaning my house. I started off with cleaning up the kitchen, doing some laundry and cleaning our downstairs bathroom. Of course, the boys helped too. They both had their chores they had to do before being able to play with their friends. After we finished our chores I ran Brandon to his friend’s house to stay the night. Brady had a friend over also. Brittany, Brady (and his friend) and myself then headed to the YMCA to work out (the boys swam). Earlier this year, I made a resolution to workout on a daily basis and to loose 5 pounds per month. I got off track for a few weeks so today was the day to get back on track. After doing the treadmill and the elipticle I am truly wiped out! So, I will be off to bed here very shortly so that I can get up for church in the morning.

My First Post

Well, here it goes. I love reading blogs pertaining to frugal living, family life and homesteading. So, I thought I would start my own blog. I love to talk and always have an opinion so I thought I would share. If you happen to venture to my blog I hope that in some small way it may bless your heart.
